Research on air pollution in New Delhi, India has caused 15,000 deaths
New Delhi: A new study shows that in 2016, nearly 15,000 people in New Delhi died prematurely due to fine particulate pollution. The study ranked third in the national capital.
Due to PM2.5 pollution, Shanghai ranked first in most premature deaths with 17,600, and Beijing ranked second with 18,200 deaths.
PM2.5 refers to atmospheric particulate matter with a diameter of less than 2.5 mm.
Anumita Roychowdhury, director of the Center for Science and Environment, emphasized: "Air pollution is becoming a major threat. To overcome this problem, a strong air quality management system needs to be established. The Ministry of Environment is finally formulating a national primary action plan to combat air pollution in Delhi." .
PM2.5 has a great impact on people's health, including cardiovascular disease, lung disease, cancer and premature death. Studies have shown that the health effects of PM2.5 on global megacities are obvious, but the impact on Asian megacities is much greater.
Recently, the phenomenon of smog-shrouded cities has become so common that the term "air end" has become synonymous with air pollution.
The study used the Comprehensive Exposure Risk (IER) model to report the long-term mortality caused by PM2.5 in 13 large cities in China, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan in 2016.
The premature death tolls in the major Indian cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai are 14,800, 10,500, 7,300, 4,800 and 4,800 respectively.
The study shows that although China has adopted preliminary measures for pollution control goals and strategies, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan urgently need government policies.
Regarding the pollution caused by the air and the huge impact on people's health, our company's energy-generating filter material, as a PP non-woven manufacturer, has various independent innovative products, which have obtained SGS, CE, NIOSH, STOS authoritative certifications, of which Gesala PM2 .5 series of protective masks have a significant effect on the protection of air pollution. This product is made of a new type of high-efficiency filter material-electrostatic melt blown ultrafine fiber.
